You May have heard about the election that happened recently. Maybe it was from your parents, guardian, or perhaps from an older y Committee which keeps an eye on how different prisons treat women, since 2012. During 2019-2020 she was a chair at the Congressional Black Caucus and achieved great things. Around this time the Congressional Black Caucus was working with Congressional Hispanic, Asian Pacific Islander, and Native American Caucuses and initiated a national need assessment for communities of color with a targeted response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020 Karen Bass helped pass the Equality Act, which extends protection to LGBTQ+ people from discrimination and overall harassment.

These are only a few of the many important things she has been part of. Seriously, the list is long! But I hope that you get a little insight into who our new Mayor is and are eager to see what the first thing she will do in office is.
