On March 8th, 2023, the local community surrounding Dana Middle School had the opportunity to meet and hear from Mr. Andre Spicer, the Regional South Superintendent for LAUSD.  The event was attended by local schools in San Pedro, including elementary, middle, and high school principals, as well as other community leaders such as Mr. Mardesich, our COSA, councilman Tim McOsker , and former city Councilman Joe Buscaino.

The event was a great success, and Dana Middle School was honored to host it in our beautiful auditorium! There was a large turnout of parents and community members who came to show their support for the local schools in the area. Many had the opportunity  to ask Mr. Spicer questions and hear him speak on various topics relating to the education system and policies in LAUSD.

For many parents and community members , this was an opportunity to voice their concerns and ask questions regarding the education of their children.

Mr. Spicer, who has been working tirelessly to address many of these concerns and make positive changes to the education system in the region, has been an advocate for equitable education, ensuring  that EVERY student in LAUSD has access to a quality education, regardless of their background or socio-economic status.

The presence of community leaders at the event was a testament to the importance of this issue and the need for collaboration between parents, the community, and schools.  Overall the event was a great success! We know Mr. Donohoe, our Dana Principal was also honored to showcase our school and the wonderful things we are doing to provide a great education to the students at our school!
