Womens+History+Month

March is a time to celebrate WOMEN.  Women have been part of history forever, but it was known that they were excluded from getting recognized and getting recognized in history books etc. Dana Middle School is celebrating  Women’s History Month for the month or March. If you walk in the main hallway and look at the glass showcase you will notice that is is dedicated to Women. The digital artwork was created to showcase  women from all backgrounds and how they were pioneers of their time.  Below are a list of names of women who are spotlighted on the bulletin board. 

CHIEN SHIUNG WU- 1945- was a Chinese-American particle and experimental physicist  who made significant contributions in the fields of nuclear and particle physics.

ROSA PARKS-was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott.

LILY LEDBETTER- helped pass the Fair Pay Act.

ELLEN OCHOA- In 1993, Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman to go to space when she served on a nine-day mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.

MALALA YOUSAFZAI- She is known for human rights advocacy, especially the education of women and children in her native homeland, Swat, where the Pakistani Taliban  have at times banned girls from attending school.

OPRAH WINFREY- is an American talk show host, television producer, actress, author, and media proprietor. She is best known for her talk show,The Oprah Winfrey Show.
