6th Grades Final PBL Project

6th+Grades+Final+PBL+Project

That’s right! 6th successfully completed their second PBL project and showcased their restaurants on May 15 through the 16th. Then the finalists were announced at the end of the sixth period on Tuesday. Finally, the sixth graders displayed their posters and informed parents why they should come to their restaurant. The event started with parents roaming the main hall in the main building walking to different students’ booths and hearing what the students had to offer. Five teams presented their pitch to the judges. This year only three judges were judging the finalists. Our principal is Mr.Donohoe, Mr.Adam Daley who is a Dana Alumni, Tim McOscar. The teams in the final were

The event started at 5 p.m. and every team displayed their restaurant whether presenting or not. Many booths featured delicious food on their menus. This year there were many unique cuisines such as Romanian and Croatian. But there were many more and many amazing foods to choose from. Each group was able to have a set up with their posters behind them and every group had a table that allowed them to display food and any other decorations. The top 5 group tables were located at the front of the auditorium while the rest filled in the halls leading from the library to the north field.

After about an hour it was time for the presentations of the top 5 groups. Everyone was to be seated in the auditorium where the presentations would begin. The presentations were amazing and interesting, to say the least. Before the final awards were announced bonus awards were given. The judges for these awards were Ms.Fosnaugh, Mr.Raymond Aubele (San Pedro High School Principal), and Mr.Seiple. The awards that were given were Best Restaurant Website, Best Interior/Exterior Design, Best Menu Design, and Best Project Display and Presentation. Each teacher also gave awards to the team in their class that stood out the most. The final awards were given starting from 5th place to 1st.

Overall this event was an amazing experience for the students and everyone who attended. This year’s 6th graders did amazing, but how will their luck be in 7th grade? While this may be the end of the 6th-grade PBL projects, it’s only the beginning of their PBL journey.
